I really don’t know how to preface this. I’ve had this post saved for a few days and every time I open it up and start writing I realize how inarticulate (is that a word?) I am.  Imagine riding an eagle into a sunset and calling it “good”. That’s what this feels like.

I first got wind that a new ACE HOTEL was coming to LA earlier this year while at their Palm Springs location for a wedding. It’s one of my favorite places to shoot and I always end up finding a reason to turn weddings there into 2 or 3 day staycations. I knew the LA property was going to be really special and I about did a cartwheel when I read that they’re also renovating the old United Artists Theater that it’s connected to. I reached out to Jason (the hotel’s GM) and after chatting back and forth for a bit  – he and his fiancé asked if I’d come out and photograph their wedding in the Theater a few months before it was to be opened to the public. I was absolutely flattered. Jason and India are incredibly genuine and lovely humans and I’m lucky to know them.
I absolutely could not have captured this day as thoroughly without the help of Caleb John Hill. Some of the photos below are his and I owe him a hug or 8.

I subscribe to the idea that, intrinsically, there’s no wrong way to have a wedding. That being said, there definitely is a right way. This is it. We knew when they invited us out to the Herman Miller Design center to shoot their engagement photos that this was going to be huge. In hindsight, “huge” is too small of a word. Everything, and I mean everything, was purposefully thought out and perfectly executed. I mean, c’mon, look at their wedding website.
Oh, and they have the best house in the world. Go check that business out here –> The Breen Haus.
Justine and Brendon, thank you. Thank you for caring enough about this day to pour yourselves into it in a very apparent and gorgeous way. You’re attention to detail didn’t go unnoticed. Thank you for welcoming us in like family and letting us spend the day with you. Also, please thank whoever snatched my camera and took a photo of Katie and I because they deserve a hug.

*foreverhugs*

Skip down after the photos to check out their Wedding Film 🙂
